Coming Soon: the All-New, Redesigned 2020 Ford Explorer -- Get to Know it Right Here in Prosser, WA!

From base and XLT to Limited and Platinum trims, our automaker's flagship mid-size crossover has been revamped inside and out, under the hood and in-cabin, and if what little we already know is any indication, it'll be a whole new SUV experience.

For one, the 2020 Explorer design will be more sharply sculpted, taking a more athletic turn that culminates in a reimagined grille. Plus, with a choice between new rear-wheel-drive architecture and available Intelligent four-wheel drive, it'll live up to that promise, with the capability to take on any terrain and weather around Kennewick. Of course, a new EcoBoost gas engine lineup and ten-speed auto transmission combo will help, as will an available Terrain Management System with drive modes that range from Normal, Slippery, and Trail to Deep Snow/Sand and Sport.

Secondly, the new Explorer will be even roomier, comfortable, and more stylish on the interior. Sliding second-row seating is set to help deliver best-in-class first- and second-row hip room and second-row headroom, not to mention cavernous third-row headroom. Moreover, better cargo capacity is in the works. PowerFold seats in the third row make it easy to create a flat loading floor, and you can look forward to more space than competitors from Jeep, GMC, and Mazda CX-9 to Dodge, Nissan, Toyota, and Subaru. So, prospects for that day trip out to Yakima abound.

It gets better when it comes to towing capacity, too. Equip your Explorer with a 3.0-liter V6 EcoBoost and towing package, and you'll be able to haul up to 5,600 pounds. Opt for a 2.3-liter EcoBoost with the same package, and it's still right around 5,300 pounds. You can even trailer up to 5,000 pounds in an all-new trim, the ultra-high-efficiency Explorer Hybrid. In other words, if you're thinking of taking that tent camper, pair of ATVs, or even a second car out to Sunnyside, you'll be able to. And let's not forget: Ford is adding a high-performance Explorer ST model sure to turn heads around Richland, complete with a powerful V6 engine, sport-tuned suspension, sport bucket seats in microperforated leather, and more.

Most of all, Ford Explorer will remain leading edge as far as smart technologies go. It'll incorporate everything from an 8-inch SYNC 3 touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to FordPass Connect 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and Waze navigation support. Bring the Ford Co-Pilot360 driver-assistance suite and options like Active Park Assist 2.0 into the mix, and comprehensive protection and ultimate peace of mind come along for the ride.

What else will 2020 Ford Explorer have in store? Only time and an eventual test drive will tell. Keep an eye out with us here at Tom Denchel Ford Country Inc. for updates. Until then, you're welcome to get the Explorer experience firsthand here on Wine Country Road.
