Make Sure Your Tires are Winter Ready

Winter is in full swing here in Prosser, and spring still looks like a distant dot on the horizon. It's certainly cold out, so it's important to make sure that your Ford is prepared. One often-overlook aspect of winter preparation is winter tires.

You might think you don't need winter tires if there's no snow on the road, but that's not always true. Snow isn't the only part of winter driving; the cold itself affects your tires. Cold winter temperatures cause rubber to contract and harden, and that reduces your tires' traction. Winter tires are specially designed for cold environments. They're made from a special rubber compound that's too soft in the summer, but that's the perfect consistency in the winter. Winter tires also have different tread patterns. You might not need winter tires down in Texas or Florida, but if you live somewhere where you routinely see temperatures in the low 40s, winter tires are a good idea.

If you haven't gotten your ride ready for winter, don't worry; it's not too late. As the saying goes, "The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second-best time is now." Just schedule an appointment with our service center, and we'll have you winter-ready in no time. We can't wait to help you out.
